This was our big project where we worked to create music together.  First, we made a band with student musicians from Island Village Middle School.  We decided to use a Blues Shuffle sound for our theme which is more upbeat than a traditional blues sound.  It was simple enough for our new musicians to play but still had a catchy beat.  The musicians listened to a digital version first and then learned their parts by ear.  The band included drums, keyboard and two guitars.GVC

Next, each team played around with lyrics for our song.  The first attempts were pretty funny since we didn't limit our ideas for a theme.  Here are a couple:French Bull Dog

Then we decided to create a song that reflected the efforts of working together through GVC.  Each team would get a third of the song for their lyrics.  The words tell a story of friendship and our global connection with each other through music.

We called our song:  The GVC Blues Shuffle
